This project deals with the fading memories of my mother, who passed away when she was only 48 years old.  Some of the images are constructions, intended to be a place holder for the memories that are disappearing.  The other images are photographs of locations that were important to my mother and I and are now either gone, closed or in disrepair.

The title refers to chapter 11 in The Odyssey, where Odysseus (or Ulysses) journeys to Hades and speaks with the ghosts, referred to as shades, of many people among which is his mother.
